There are three theories of what Stonehenge used to be and what it was used for. Some scientists say the concentric stone rings were used as an ancient calendar. Other scientists are confident that the place was a cemetery. Some claim that it served as a temple and a place for healing sick people. Archaeological excavations don’t cast light on the Stonehenge mystery. It is still remains a mystery how people quarried and dragged heavy stones to build Stonehenge. The Druids laid claim to this place and have recently used it as a place for ceremonies during the summer solstice. However, research indicates that Stonehenge was built before the existence of the Druids and they got the site secondhand. Anyway, humankind will have to puzzle over the mystery of this construction.

"Jack the Ripper" is a nickname given to an unidentified London serial killer of Victorian England. The name was taken from a letter sent to the London Central News Agency by someone claiming to be the murderer. In the autumn of 1888 a series of horrible murders of prostitutes took place in around Whitechapel area and in adjacent districts of London. These murders were committed in public or semi-public places at night or is the early morning. The victim’s throat was cut, after which the body was mutilated. Newspapers, whose circulation was growing during that time, made the killer notorious by describing the way he killed women and by emphasising the failure of the police to capture him, sometimes missing the murderer at the crime scenes by a few minutes. Because the killer’s identity had never been confirmed the legends surrounding the murders became a combination of genuine historical research, folklore and pseudohistory. Over the years, many authors, historians, and amateur detectives have proposed theories regarding the identity (or identities) of the killer and his victims. Still nobody knows who Jack the Ripper was.

Over the past few years, there has been a new culture in England which is fast becoming a widespread epidemic. Everywhere you go in England you’ll see Chavs. They are normally hanging (hang) around their favourite “Массу D” (MacDonalds) or just the streets where they try at every opportunity to vandalise property, verbally abuse passersby and terrorise the elderly. Chavs have a distinct dress code. Fake designer labels a must. The male Chav normally wears (will normally wear) a hooded top to conceal his face, loose tracksuits, white trainers, and moa importantly a Burberry baseball cap. The female Chav or “Chavette” has a tight ponytail on the back of her head, also known as “Croydon facelift”. She tends to wear a dark blue tracksuit with white stripes, a big puffer jacket, a dozen hoop earrings, and also white trainers. Chavettes are not аllowed to wear socks, and all Chavs are required to wear as much fake jewellery as they possibly can. Mobile phones are an extra status symbol, and when they are equipped, the Chav must shout into it in an extremely anti-social fashion.

Typically, Chavs speak a unique language which is almost incomprehensible to non-Chavs. It is thought to have its in English though most people are quite certain. Chavs tend to use brief words, and their sentences are always punctuated with “innit”. Obviously, very few ordinary people are able to understand the language, making a conversation with Chavs pointless. Smoking is often seen as Chav’s favourite pastime which makes them spit and cough every 15 seconds. They love drinking alcohol, usually cheap lager or cider.

Much to the surprise of everyone, Chavs can be found in education too. Chavs tend to leave school before the age of sixteen either voluntarily or not in order to pursue early parenthood or in many cases a life of crime.

It is no surprise that Chavs are responsible for the high growth rate in street crime that England has seen over the last few years. The country has been diagnosed with the “Chav cancer” and as such many professionals are working hard to find a cure. If you happen to see a young lad aged 12–30 dressed like an old woman’s shopping trolley, you are said to have witnessed a Chav.
